Empowering communities for a healthier, greener tomorrow

Novi eko talas is a dedicated civil society organization based in Serbia, driving civic engagement across social protection, environmental conservation, cultural heritage, and holistic well-being. We empower citizens and partner with European institutions to turn grassroots initiatives into lasting institutional change.

Our mission to inspire civic action and sustainable change

Founded on the belief that active citizenship shapes a better society, our association works tirelessly to strengthen local capacities. We mobilize residents to take part in initiatives that encourage local and national authorities to listen, act, and invest in sustainable community projects. By raising awareness and fostering active participation, we demonstrate that meaningful change happens when citizens stand up for their rights and their environment.

Tangible impact across education and environmental safety

Our initiatives deliver measurable outcomes. We published the educational picture book "Zanimalci in nature," featuring original songs about ecological stewardship, now mandatory reading across kindergartens in Srem. In environmental protection, we created the "Register of polluters with animal waste" in Sremska Mitrovica, mapping 13 livestock disposal sites on Google Maps with automated reporting for veterinary inspection and zoohygiene. This campaign directly led municipal and state authorities to establish a specialized, modern transfer station for safe animal waste handling.

Driven by passion, leadership, and over 120 dedicated members

With more than 120 members and an active core of over 20 volunteers on every mission, our community drives real progress. Leadership is anchored by Dušan Filimonović, heading environmental initiatives and social protection, and Prof. Dragana Filimonović, who leads culture, wellness, and pedagogical workshops for youth. Dragana's distinguished work includes the solo harp concert concept "Journey to the Center of the Soul" at the "Dobrica Milutinović" Theater, presenting a pioneering 5-year music therapy study at the "Medicine and Music" International Symposium in Ljubljana, and winning the Golden Plaque at the "Milica Barić" International Harp Competition.

"Join hands with Novi eko talas to build stronger local communities, protect our natural heritage, and foster well-being across Serbia."
